Never heard of Mykal Kumasi Jones? Learn all about this unique music artist from Antigua here. Residing in the City of Newport, RI, Mykal is the former leader of Wadadli Experience Band from Antigua, where he's known as Kumasi, so we'll use that name for now.
Kumasi is an Indie music artist, singer/songwriter, producer, and Reggae singer, but he's much more than Reggae. Little do people know, Kumasi was a famous and well-known Steel band six bass player in Antigua before becoming the leader and Reggae singer in Wadadli Experience Band.
Kumasi grew up in an environment of Steel bands, Brass, and Calypso music. He was one of the original members of the Ebonites steel band before he left and became a panorama champion with the Harmonites steel orchestra. So, he's a direct by-product of the culture, traditions, and genre.
His latest production, Born For Dis, is a unique style he calls Socalypso, so if you are surprised to hear him singing and playing Calypso music, trust me, It's not an experiment. He can do this, and yet some!
