Steel Pan Players

Caribbean Steel Band

It's good to see Steelbands emerging and gaining prominence outside the Caribbean, but Caribbean Steelpan players are a special breed. Trinidad and Tobago is the Mecca of Steel bands, the epicenter of pan music in the Caribbean, and the home of the best Steel pan builders and players in the world.

The history of Steel bands began with the enslavement of black people and the colonization of the Caribbean by the British empire. Today, the Steel Pan is a well-established, unique indigenous Caribbean Instrument played by Pan players around the globe.

A complete steel orchestra includes a six drums bass, four drums tenor bass, a guitar, a cello, double second, double tenor, and single tenor steelpan.
